After the cold of the AGM - Sunday 11th May found us all in a hot, sunny and beautiful Cannock woodland of the Hatherton Estate by kind permission of Mr Ray Nightingale. There were 19 entries, 18 of which turned up for the day. The Working Test was held under KC regulations, for several this was the first time they had attended such an event - it was certainly very pleasing to see new faces willing to run their dogs under the judges eye.

The day itself - although a test was held as if a field trial - 2 dogs running at the same time, the card was worked right through, the Open dogs running at the end. The dogs then got called back for their second runs under the different judge. although it sounds very formal - it was actually a very relaxed and enjoyable test - the judges and helpers were all very surprised at the way all the dogs winded the dummies.

It was hot so the dogs didn't work at their fastest but most dogs got through their 2 runs. It was very pleasing to see Shaun Jeffs bitch being pulled out as the winner of novice - hopefully we shall see them running in a trial in the future. It was also excellent that Andy Hales and Robin Mills both also made the cards too with their first Clumbers.

Grateful thanks must be said to Andy Hales for organising the event for the Society and to the Judges Mr Bob Rutherford & Mr Paul Speake who were very sympathetic with the dogs and the handlers.
