Grouse 2007
Home Up

Alan & Jan Taylor kindly invited the society for a days walked up grouse shooting, what a wonderful opportunity for many of us to work our Clumbers through heather the sight & sound of these magical birds is very special. The scenery is breathtaking, the track up in 4WD only is tricky, but worth it.                   The dogs needed to be steady and work close; David Tomlinson from the shooting times joined us for the day to write an article for the magazine which comes out on the 11th October. He was very impressed by the discipline and how well the dogs worked. In the afternoon some of the younger dogs worked, just a couple that needed a little bit of correction but other then that very good.                                                 8 brace of grouse were shot and about 8 or 10 rabbits.                                                                        Some stayed in the area for the night before travelling to Leadhills, for more rabbit shooting the next day and some of us were very kindly invited back with our hosts for the evening of good company, good food, and great wine, perfect day.  Thank you so much for looking after us all so well.

A thank you to the generous hosts.

Life is never as easy as it looks - controlling a group of Clumbers needs all their handlers best efforts!
