Training at Rackenford
Home Up

A fantastic day of Training was held on 4th June, 2006 at Rackenford in the most beautiful weather...

Following write up by Debbie Zurick

A slightly disappointing turnout, as this was such a popular venue last time, but it was very hot.

For those people that did come, they benefited tremendously from a wealth of knowledge from Trish Watson who has 30 years experience with Labradors, trialling and picking up. I had asked Trish to lead this day for us as she holds very popular classes on Dartmoor. Trish is very bossy but there is nothing wrong with that!!  She kept everyone’s attention and even succeeded with Rupert for a while who admitted was just there for the beer!!   We all needed to work on our retrieving / delivery problems and also general discipline. We also had an excellent chance to use the lakes. The ground is ideal for dog training with paddocks, marsh grass, lakes and woodland.

We had a great BBQ by the beautiful lake and, after lunch, Trish helped with some of the younger dogs whilst John took other handlers and their charges to hunt in the woodland.  Other pictures can be seen on  http://www.abbyford.co.uk/WCSS%20Training%20day%202006.htm

A big thank you to Dick & Simone for letting use their ground, we are the only Club they allow there now.

Since the 4th June Dick has been taken seriously ill and we wish him well with a very speedy recovery.
