NEWBOTTLE MANOR
2005
Write up by Debbie Zurick
My
Journey started to Newbottle at 6am in the morning to deluge of rain,
the roads were awful, thought we were going to be soaked all day.
Pulled up at Newbottle and it stopped. Lovely stormy sky's but we
stayed dry.
Nice
turnout of Clumbers young and old with a guest appearance of a puppy
on its way to Suffolk. Lord Gage was one of the guns that day and his
friend Alex was kindly looking after young Phoebe his Clumber bitch,
who coped with the day very well.
It is a
rare treat to go to a shoot where the host says the dogs are more
important then the guns, it's always a lovely social occasion and a
rare chance to see so many Clumbers working. Eva and Kristina had
come over from Sweden to see a selection of clumbers working and,
also, for Kristina to collect her puppy from Jackie to take back to
Sweden. It was a lovely opportunity for them to get out in the English
countryside and squelsh through the mud.
Not
often when sweeping through looking for two Cock runners do you come
back with one runner and a dachshund (Liza) who had lost the beating
team, and decided a lift from a picker up who would carry her was a
far better option.
Rosie,
John Townsend's Clumber bitch, was back on form after breaking her leg
very badly; you would never guess anything had happened. She has quite
a turn of speed!
Thank
you to our host for another memorable day at Newbottle, one of our
absolute favourite days in the calendar - We're already looking
forward to next year
